Jennifer Gillis, Preferred Halifax Real Estate Agent
In 2003, I moved from Plaquemine, Louisiana to Nova Scotia, after marrying my Canadian husband.
I attended Louisiana State University, The University of Spain in Salamanca, Spain, and the University
of Southeastern Louisiana. I have a Bachelor's degree in Spanish as well as a Teaching Degree in
Elementary and High School Spanish. Before moving to Nova Scotia, I taught Spanish and English
as a Second Language at the Elementary level.
When I moved to Halifax I quickly discovered that teaching Spanish in the Elementary School is not
commonplace and that I would need to either shift my focus in the world of education, or switch careers.
I have always been interested in Real estate, as my father worked for many years as a Builder, Real Estate
Broker and investor. I managed some of these investment properties for him. This interest is what brought
me to Francis MacDonald, and Press Realty.
I'm now mother of Mary Clare and Anna and, when I'm not selling houses for my clients, I run a vacation
rental business with my husband.
We enjoy showing the children the world through travel, and we spend time with our Louisiana family as
much as we can. Southern roots are strong in our family.
I work mostly in the Halifax Regional Municipality. This area includes Halifax, Dartmouth, Bedford, Sackville,
and Hammonds Plains and surrounding areas. I specialize in Peninsular Halifax.
Foreign Investor and Relocation Experience
I have worked extensively relocating families and individuals throughout Canada. I work with members of
the military, government employees, physicians, and educators leaving and moving to the Halifax area.
I include a "Get to Know Halifax" session with all of my clients who are new to Halifax.
POSITIVELY PROFESSIONAL
I came to Halifax, Nova Scotia from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I was raised a real "southern girl", and
with that comes hospitality, friendliness, and good food.
I married a local Nova Scotian and we have two daughters. My career before real estate was as an
Elementary School Spanish Teacher.
When I launched my career in 2006, I became very dedicated to the needs of my clients, focusing on
specific needs.
I believe that professionalism, prompt service, and loyalty are keys to successfully guiding you to a
successful purchase. I also believe that knowing the community in which you work is very important.
I do not cater to any particular area, type of home, or price range. I cater to PEOPLE.
